The importance of ecosystems for business development

It’s been a while since when I think about the direction of my own venture, Vibratto, a word runs through my head: ecosystem.

Basically, an ecosystem isa set of service offerings and/or proprietary or third-party products that make hundreds of possible operations and activities available to the public, facilitating access and allowing exponential synergy of its multiple connections.

What fascinates me most about the concept of an ecosystem is that it allows for openness to new partnerships and forces members to adopt a much more collaborative than competitive stance.

In October of this year, I participated in the 28th Convencon (Convention of Accounting Professionals of the State of São Paulo) and the Pedro Nery, an accounting professional who I greatly admire also spoke about ecosystems in his talk and it was very inspiring to hear him.

Why think about ecosystems?

For small businesses, especially, making investments in improvements that can take the company to new heights, but it is very costly and can take a long time to reach a point of maturity to take these steps. With strategic partnerships this path can be shortened and the company gains access to different technologies or resources to improve its processes.

By being part of ecosystems, the company is able to focus on what it does best and increase its profit margins and also productivity.

But how do you establish an ecosystem?

Of course, talking about the ecosystem is much easier than implementing it. To work, the ecosystem needs a pool of companies looking in the same direction.

I see that to happen and be successful, an ecosystem must be based on some premises.

#1 Purpose Companies aligned with the same purpose, even offering different solutions, is fundamental to the success of partnerships.

#2 Win-win Businesses that are part of an ecosystem need to have a cooperative vision and seek balance and benefits for all partnerships and, above all, for the customer.

#3 Objective Even if formed by a collective of companies with complementary services, an ecosystem needs to have goals, focus and objectives like any business on its own. And you? Do you believe in the potential of the ecosystem for business development? Leave it to me in the comments.
